The NFL Draft is a time when teams look to select franchise cornerstones.

One spot that most teams will keep their eye on is wide receiver.

You can never have enough pass catchers in today’s NFL and there should be a few selected in the first round.

Many people have different views on who the top wide receivers in this class are.

As there does not seem to be a consensus top five.

Pro Football Focus recently released their top-five receivers of this class.

Like most, their number one guy is Ohio State’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

The Ohio State star seems like the consensus WR1 in this class.

He is lauded for his route running, and elite ball skills, two traits that all great wide receivers need to have.

The only receiver in the top five that is surprising is North Carolina’s Josh Downs.

He is rarely mentioned as top five in this class, but he does have a great chance to be a second-round pick.

You can bet that each team has a different view of the wide receivers.

We could see some sneak into the first round, while others fall to the back of the second.

It will be interesting to see where Boston College receiver Zay Flowers ends up.

He is small for the position, but he has great speed and quickness.

Also, he is capable of playing both in the slot and outside.

For whoever decides to draft a wide receiver, it would be smart to have a plan for them.

Giving them a clear role and watching them flourish is what all NFL teams should hope for.
