The Toronto Raptors had a disappointing season, winning just 41 games, finishing ninth in the Eastern Conference and losing in the play-in tournament to the Chicago Bulls.

But the Raptors have ample young talent, and one of their better role players has decided to stick around for another season.

Forward Otto Porter Jr. has decided to pick up his player option for the 2023-24 season.

The Raptors have lots of length up and down their roster, and Porter was supposed to give them even more length, but the 6-foot-8 forward suffered a foot injury that limited him to just eight regular-season games this season.

He is known as a solid defender who possesses a very dependable 3-point shot, as evidenced by his career accuracy of 39.7 percent from beyond the arc.

Porter has been injury prone throughout much of his 10-year NBA career, but last season he appeared in 63 games and played a key role off the bench in the Golden State Warriors winning the world championship.

Toronto also has to wait on whether key starters Fred VanVleet and Gary Trent Jr. will also exercise their player options to remain with the team for the 2023-24 campaign.

Just last season, they won 48 games and finished fifth in the East while giving the Philadelphia 76ers a bit of a scare in the first round of the playoffs, and they certainly seem to have the talent to make the playoffs outright next season.

Porter getting and staying fully healthy would go a long way toward making that happen.
