The Arizona Cardinals enter the 2023 NFL Draft with an interesting predicament on their hands.
Currently, the Cardinals hold the No. 3 overall pick, which is a coveted position to be in.
Given that the team doesn’t need a quarterback, they could be candidates to move back in the draft.
The team’s new GM, Monti Ossenfort, recently commented on their situation.
“If the trade makes sense and it’s the right decision for our team at the time, then we’ll do it,” he said, per NFL.com.

However, Ossenfort also indicated that the team could stay put, saying, “If the right move is to sit and pick a player,” and later, “Then we’ll be prepared to do that.”
With this pick in mind, the Cardinals will likely have their choice of a top defensive player, if recent reporting is any indication.
The Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans, who select in front of the Cardinals with the first two picks, are both in need of quarterbacks.
If both teams choose a signal-caller, then the Cardinals situation gets a lot more interesting.
They could either take the best available player (likely a defender) or trade back in the draft with another quarterback-needy team.
Regardless, it appears that Ossenfort and the Cardinals enjoy the position that they are in.
“I don’t think anything that happens in front of us will dictate what we’re going to do at three,” Ossenfort said
If all goes to plan, the Cardinals will be in the driver’s seat when it’s their turn to pick.
