The San Francisco Giants pulled off an incredible jaw-dropping comeback win against the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night.

Down 4-2 in the bottom of the ninth, San Francisco began to chip away against Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley, taking advantage of some rare defensive miscues on behalf of St. Louis.

Blake Sabol won the game with a walk-off home run.

San Francisco employed the strategy of a bullpen game, with right-hander John Brebbia getting the start.

The former Cardinal pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless baseball before being removed from the game in favor of Sean Manaea.

Before the game, the veteran right-hander had a hilarious choice for his warmup song, that being Kid Quill’s “The Opener.”

In the song, Kid Quill mentions that he is merely the opener, or opening act and that nobody came to see him.

Clearly, Brebbia adopted that attitude before making the start against his old team.

And while he wasn’t the primary pitcher, he still did what he needed to do, as he held his former team scoreless over 1.1 innings of work, regardless of whether the fans came to see him or not.

Brebbia came up with the Cardinals in 2017 and became a key piece of their bullpen.

The right-hander missed the 2020 season as he recovered from Tommy John surgery.

He was then non-tendered and became a free agent at the end of the season.

However, the Giants picked him up and added him to their bullpen.

The right-hander has appeared in 11 games this season for the Giants, going 1-0 with a 4.82 ERA over 9.1 innings of work while striking out 14.
