The Houston Texans have the ultimate opportunity to land a franchise quarterback with the No. 2 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.

With Alabama QB Bryce Young most likely being the first pick off the board, Houston has been tied to Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud as a potential selection.

However, Stroud is represented by David Mulugheta, who also happens to be former Texans QB Deshaun Watson’s agent.

Why’s that relevant?

Well, things didn’t exactly end well between Watson and the organization, as he requested a trade shortly before his legal turmoil broke out.

When asked about it, Texans GM Nick Caserio claims that’s not going to be a factor in their decision to draft or pass on Stroud.

Of course, it’s not like Caserio would openly admit to bad blood between both parties, but this dynamic is interesting at the very least.

Mulugheta knows how Caserio does business with how he handles things behind closed doors, and that might not be appealing for a young player like Stroud entering the league.

Also, the Texans wouldn’t want to get into a standoff with their top draft pick, so it wouldn’t make sense for Houston to harbor resentment and take it out on Stroud.

The Texans have plenty of other options with the No. 2 overall pick as well.

They could choose a different quarterback with Anthony Richardson of Florida or Will Levis of Kentucky.

Either that or Houston could draft a defensive player like Will Anderson of Alabama.

Remember, the Texans also have the No. 12 overall pick in the draft, so they could wait until then to select a quarterback.
