It appears the Tennessee Titans are preparing for life after Ryan Tannehill.
The quarterback is 34 years old, and he seemed to show his age last season when he threw for just 13 touchdowns amidst a 7-10 finish for the Titans.
On Friday, they traded for the No. 33 pick, which they used on University of Kentucky QB Will Levis, a player most felt would go in the first round of the draft.
Last year, Tennessee took Malik Willis, another signal-caller, in the third round of the draft, and Tannehill said that it wasn’t his job to mentor him.
“I don’t think it’s my job to mentor him.”

Levis threw for 2,406 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2022, and he was widely considered the fourth-best quarterback prospect in a draft that has been regarded as rich in potential-laden quarterbacks.
Tannehill was once a solid QB for the Titans, as he made the Pro Bowl as recently as the 2019 season, when he completed 70.3 percent of his passes and notched 2,742 passing yards and 22 passing touchdowns in 12 contests.
That year, the Titans made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game where they fell to the eventual world champion Kansas City Chiefs despite winning just nine contests in the regular season.
They still have running back Derrick Henry, who is one of the two or three best at his position in the NFL, but they have a lack of playmakers on offense.
It remains to be seen if Levis will be capable of being a franchise quarterback or if the Titans will need to go back to the drawing board next offseason to fill that position.
