The NFL Draft is now over, and teams across the league can head into a new season with their new players in tow.

For teams like the New York Giants, however, they had a massive decision to make about one of their key players after the draft.

According to Ari Meirov, the Giants have picked up the fifth-year option on left tackle Andrew Thomas.

As Meirov indicates, this means that Thomas is due a $14.1 million guaranteed salary for the 2024 season.

The Giants have taken a hard look at their offense during the offseason, trying to put quarterback Daniel Jones in the best possible position to succeed.

By retaining Thomas, the Giants not only have a familiar face within the locker room but someone that Jones trusts as well.

Not to mention, Thomas served as one of the superior left tackles in the league last year.

He allowed just three sacks and committed two penalties in 2022, which put him among the league’s best offensive linemen.

Having an elite left tackle is one of the most crucial parts of an offensive structure.

This allows the run game to flourish while making sure the quarterback is protected.

During the offseason cycle, the Giants placed the franchise tag on star running back Saquon Barkley to put even more emphasis on their run game.

Jones is also capable of moving the ball with his feet, which makes Thomas’ position all the more valuable.

Will the Giants be able to continue the success they found last year, making a deeper playoff run in 2023?
