Brooklyn Nets fans haven’t gotten a chance to see Ben Simmons at his best yet, as he has barely played since being acquired in the James Harden trade.
But as disappointing as Simmons’ tenure in Brooklyn has been, he might as well be ready to be on the floor sooner rather than later.
According to Eurohoops, via NBA Central, there’s a “really strong chance” that Simmons will suit up for his national team in the upcoming FIBA World Cup.

Notably, Simmons’ history with the Australian team isn’t much better than his recent NBA tenure.
Some of his national team colleagues and even the fans have repeatedly accused him of bailing on them and refusing to play in the past, so this could be the ultimate chance to vindicate himself.
Simmons’ talent and physical traits have never been put into question.
When healthy, he has the potential to be the best, most versatile defender in the Association.
His size and length allow him to guard one through five, and his playmaking skills and court-vision are just elite.
Even if he’s not a shooter by any means, Simmons’ strength and athleticism allow him to get whatever he wants in the paint when he’s aggressive and driving to the rim.
Nonetheless, he’s gone through some mental hurdles lately, and he seems out of confidence in his game, which obviously makes him a liability on both ends of the floor.
So, hopefully, his back will no longer be an issue, and he gets to suit up for the Aussies to slowly regain his confidence before the start of the NBA season.
