After Bryce Young had a strong college football career at the University of Alabama, many have been waiting to see the quarterback’s debut in the NFL and to witness whether he has what it takes to achieve stardom there.

The Carolina Panthers‘ new signal-caller will start his pro career with a Week 1 regular-season matchup on the road against the Atlanta Falcons before making his home debut on Monday Night Football against the New Orleans Saints.

In his two seasons as a starter for the Crimson Tide, Young threw for 4,872 yards and 47 touchdowns in 2021 and 3,328 yards plus 32 touchdowns last season.

He won the Heisman Trophy in 2021, in addition to several other individual awards, and a few months ago he propelled his team to an easy win in the Sugar Bowl over Kansas State University.

Young has a nice pocket presence, good mobility, and a nice instinctual feel for the game, but some doubt how much success he will have in the pros because of his modest stature.

He’s listed at just 5-foot-10 and roughly 200 pounds, and it’s very rare for an NFL quarterback who is only slightly larger than the average American male to have any real success.

Carolina’s Week 1 matchup may not be in primetime, but it will pit him against another highly regarded rookie by the name of Bijan Robinson, the talented running back out of the University of Texas.

The Panthers could have a surprisingly competitive team, as Young will have Pro Bowl running back Miles Sanders and two stud wide receivers in DJ Chark and Adam Thielen by his side.
