Many years ago, the Los Angeles Angels and Baltimore Orioles were squaring off in a weekend series at Camden Yards.
This was long before the days of Shohei Ohtani, but outfielder and slugger Mike Trout were just getting started.
It was Trout’s first full season in the Major Leagues, and he was certainly turning some heads with his power and his defense.
On July 7, 2012, the Halos held a 1-0 lead over the Orioles in the bottom of the first inning.
Slugger J.J. Hardy came to the plate for the Orioles and hit a drive to deep center field that looked like it was going to be a homer, until Trout made an unbelievable catch to pull it down.
Trout makes his return to Baltimore tonight, and on Twitter, MLB posted a highlight video of the moment Trout made this amazing catch.

Trout went on to win the American League Rookie of the Year Award that season.
11 years later, Trout has won three American League MVP Awards, nine Silver Slugger Awards, and has been selected to 10 All-Star teams.
But this was the moment that it was clear Trout had arrived and was on his way to becoming one of the greatest players in baseball history.
Tonight, the veteran slugger will make his return to Baltimore, where he made that spectacular catch and will patrol center field yet again.
The Angels have started off the season well and head into Baltimore just 4.5 games behind the Texas Rangers for first place in the American League West.
