Social media activity has become a talking point and a way of getting leverage among NFL players lately.

Notably, New York Jets DT Quinnen Williams has become the latest to join this trend of players scrubbing their teams from their social media profiles amid contract talks.

Williams recently changed his Twitter bio to “Defensive Tackle for ……………….”

Notably, his last Tweet was, in fact, a retweet highlighting the details of the four-year, $90 million contract the New York Giants gave DT Dexter Lawrence.

Lawrence also got $60 million guaranteed in that new deal, and reports state that Williams and the Jets aren’t close to an extension.

Scrubbing the team from the Twitter bio is getting more popular among athletes nowadays.

They feel disrespected or discontent with the organization, so they want to let it be known that they’re not happy with the organization and wouldn’t mind taking their talents somewhere else.

Williams has been one of the best and most productive defensive tackles in the league since he first entered the league, and the market for his position has been pretty much set.

Jeffrey Simmons and the Tennesse Titans and Daron Payne and the Washington Commanders recently signed deals worth between $21.8 million to $23.5 million with close to $60 million guaranteed.

Unsurprisingly, Williams has been nowhere to be found during the Jets’ voluntary offseason program, something the fans foresaw after he made it clear that he wouldn’t show up unless he got a new deal, especially now that he and his wife are awaiting the birth of a child.
