The Philadelphia 76ers fell flat on their face in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

After leading the series 3-2 over the Boston Celtics, the Sixers had their sites set on the Eastern Conference Finals.

But they were unable to win one of two games to earn the right to keep playing.

This was a major disappointment for all Sixers fans and something that could set the franchise back.

It has become quite clear that the Sixers do not have the right pieces in place to compete for a championship.

One surprising comment came from NBA MVP Joel Embiid after the Game 7 loss.

According to CBS Sports, Embiid said, “Me and James, we can’t win alone. That’s why basketball is played 5-on-5.”

That comment is a major lack of self-awareness from Embiid as he and Harden were two of the worst players on the floor in that game.

Even NBA star Damian Lillard was confused as to why Embiid would make that comment.

For being the regular season MVP, Embiid shrunk in the playoffs.

His points per game dropped from 33.1 per game in the regular season to 23.7 in the playoffs.

According to ESPN Stats and Info, that was the largest drop-off for an MVP in NBA history.

In Game 7, he scored 15 points and shot 5-18 from the field.

Embiid should be thanking his teammates for allowing this series to go seven games with how poorly he played.

You can bet this quote will not sit well in Philadelphia.

Many Sixers fans are already calling for a total overhaul of the team.

What was the best individual season for Embiid, was nothing but disappointment again for the 76ers.
