The Green Bay Packers are in desperate need of veteran help for their receiving corps.

With that in mind, they’re hosting veteran WR Keke Coutee, according to a report by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Coutee entered the league out of Texas Tech as a fourth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans.

He owns the NFL record for the most receptions in his NFL debut (11), but that was the highest of his rookie campaign — and career in the league thus far.

Coutee hauled in 28 passes in six games as a rookie, then 22 passes in nine appearances the next season, and had 33 receptions in eight games in the 2020 campaign.

He’s struggled to stay healthy for the better part of his career, and not even the Texans trading away Randall Cobb was enough for him to make the roster in 2021.

The 26-year-old has played in 10 games for the Indianapolis Colts in the past couple of years, but he’s only managed to haul in two receptions.

Just last season, he had one reception, which led to a fumble.

He also averaged 8.9 yards on 17 punt returns, and he muffed three of those.

As unimpressive as his numbers might seem, the Packers currently have 10 receivers under contract, and all of those are either rookies or entering their second season in the league.

Moreover, Matt LaFleur’s team is also in desperate need of a punt returner, as Keisean Nixon is expected to get more playing time on the defense, and they may not want to wear him out in special teams.
