The Cincinnati Bengals should have one thing in mind and one thing only, and that’s keeping Joe Burrow on the team until the end of his career.
Burrow has never hinted at a desire to leave the team, and contract extension talks were always expected to be smooth and without any sort of drama.
Recently, the LSU product confirmed precisely that, stating that he’s been involved in extension talks and they’re currently sorting things out, per Ari Meirov.
However, Burrow will also seemingly take a page out of Tom Brady’s book, as he also said that he’s keeping in mind the contract situation of some of his teammates as well.
#Bengals QB Joe Burrow said a contract extension is in the works and he’s involved in the discussions. He added that having other players on the roster who are due for paydays is on his mind.

Notably, Brady took multiple pay cuts throughout the course of his career to help the New England Patriots surround him with elite talents, and one could argue that he found quite the successful path with that formula.
Burrow might not win six Super Bowl rings with the Bengals — although he could — but he knows that keeping the band together could be key to their long-term success, especially with star WR Ja’Marr Chase also poised to have a market-setting deal when his time comes up.
Even so, the expectation around the league is that Burrow will set a new high for the QB market, topping both Jalen Hurts and Lamar Jackson after the record-breaking deals they signed this offseason.
Burrow is already considered an elite QB in the National Football League, and the Bengals simply cannot afford to risk losing the man responsible behind their impressive culture turnaround.
