Everybody’s talking about the Memphis Grizzlies, Ja Morant, and what the punishment should be after he was caught — again — flashing guns on social media.

People have been quick to judge the rising star and urged Commissioner Adam Silver to lay the hammer on him, while others believe it’s a little excessive.

Notably, that last list includes former NBA player JJ Redick, who recently got heated on ESPN’s First Take when discussing the matter.

Redick pointed out the big list of incidents regarding Morant’s behavior, citing that they’ve all been investigated and that he’s not condoning that.

He claimed that there should be some sort of punishment or accountability because he’s a role model and one of the faces of the league.

However, he doesn’t understand why people want to be so extra when it comes to Morant — who didn’t break any law — in a country with such a prominent gun culture.

He’s got a bit of a point there: Morant didn’t break the law, and he’s got a second amendment right to own guns.

Nonetheless, it’s a matter of PR, and like it or not, he signed up for that when he took his talents to the NBA.

Also, the league has its own personal conduct policy and, as such, is free to lay the hammer on a player who fails to abide by it.
