The New York Mets are calling up infield prospect Mark Vientos to help them as they try to turn a disappointing season around.

Vientos, the owner of a .333/.416/.688 line with a 1.104 OPS and 13 home runs in 166 Triple-A plate appearances, has the potential to help in that regard.

He should not be seen as the Mets’ savior: their issues go deeper than just having a powerful young prospect in the bigs.

They have suffered countless injuries, they have aging veterans, and they are not deep enough in certain areas.

Having Vientos around, however, can help inject some talent into the lineup.

Fans, of course, offered their takes on Twitter and mostly welcomed the kid to Queens.

As stated: Vientos alone won’t save the Mets, but he can be the start of something good.

The kid is really talented, even though he struggled with a .546 OPS in 41 trips to the plate in the majors last season.

As most prospects, Vientos doesn’t come without flaws, and it’s important to keep this in mind to somewhat temper expectations.

He hits the ball really hard, but he is still trying to learn and adjust.

Still, it’s hard to ignore the ceiling because it’s considerable.

Mets fans all over the country and the world are already excited, as another one of their young crew of position player prospects will be showcasing his talent in the majors.

Fans are generally happy to see Vientos get another chance in MLB, as he adds potential and increased the lineup’s ceiling considerably.
