The New York Mets are not having the season their fans have hoped for.
After winning 101 games last year the Mets were once again expected to be one of the top teams in the NL.
But that has not been the case so far this year.
The Mets have a record of 20-23 and are in fourth place in the NL East.
It has been a mixture of poor hitting and poor pitching that has led them to this point.
The Mets have been shut out seven times this season, which is the most in the MLB.
Also, their pitching staff has underachieved led by veterans Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander.
The Mets cannot escape the trolling even at their stadium.
According to Anthony DiComo, the Mets’ video board malfunctioned during their game on Tuesday night.
It showed a massive picture of the Rays logo, as Rays player Jose Siri proceeded to hit a home run.
Adding insult to tonight’s proceedings: the Citi Field video board briefly just shut off during an at-bat, causing a momentary stoppage in play. When it turned back on, it displayed a massive Rays logo. Fans booed.
Then José Siri hit another homer.

This moment was a perfect example of how the Mets season has gone so far.
Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong for them.
There is still plenty of time left in the season for the Mets to turn it around.
But they will need their star hitters to show up.
That means Francisco Lindor, Pete Alonso, and Starling Marte need to hit better.
Alonso is still hitting for power (tied for the MLB lead in home runs with 14) but his average has taken a hit.
The same can be said for Lindor and Marte, who are hitting below their career numbers.
At some point, these players will have to start hitting more consistently.
If they can do that the Mets may find themselves back in the running.
