Umpires Eject Marlins Catcher And Manager For Odd Reason

During Friday night’s game between the Miami Marlins and San Francisco Giants, some truly odd moments took place.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, catcher Jacob Stallings and manager Skip Schumaker were both ejected from the game.

When Giants designated hitter J.D. Davis appeared to not be in the batter’s box in time for Marlins reliever Bryan Hoeing’s 3-2 pitch, Stallings called time.

However, it was not granted and Davis ultimately went to first base.

This prompted an argument from Stallings and Schumaker, both of whom were subsequently ejected.

On Twitter, MLB on FOX posted a video of the two pleading their case with the umpires and ultimately being tossed.

It certainly was an odd moment in Friday’s game.

The Marlins seemed to have a legitimate case to argue in this situation.

Clearly, they were hoping for time to be granted or for a pitch clock violation to be called against Davis.

That was not the case, however, and Davis was granted first base.

But this is certainly an odd reason for both Schumaker and Stallings to be ejected from the game.

As time goes on, it appears more obvious that the umpiring crews are very inconsistent about certain calls.

Clearly, the Marlins thought that something was not right during the at-bat and wanted something to be done.

However, this was not the case, and the umpires did not grant the Marlins their time in that moment, which resulted in Davis drawing a walk.

The umpires have been very focused on keeping the game moving at a brisk pace, but did not see an issue in this particular moment.
