The NFL has changed significantly over the past few years.

Gone away is a run-first, attacking-up-the-middle approach.

The majority of teams across the league are pass-friendly, putting less of an emphasis on the run game.

Despite this shift, it is still imperative to have a strong running back on your team, to switch up the gameplan.

Jon Macri, a football analyst, has recently detailed the most elusive running backs in the NFL, per PFF Fantasy Football on Twitter.

Nick Chubb, Javonte Williams, Dameon Pierce, Tony Pollard, and Breece Hall are noted as his top five.

Chubb is coming off a career year in 2022, rattling off 1,525 total rushing yards.

He averaged five yards per carry and continued to be one of the lone bright spots in Cleveland’s offense.

Williams and Hall are both coming off severe, season-ending injuries.

Before both players were injured, they were also having great seasons.

Hall averaged 5.8 yards per carry, and Williams averaged 4.3 but only appeared in four games.

If both players can be fully healthy, they should impact their respective teams this season, with their elusiveness in mind.

Pierce was a rookie last season, and took the league by storm, given his lack of significant draft capital.

He will have a great opportunity with the Houston Texans this season, given the level of excitement the organization has with C.J. Stroud.

Pollard is the only notable back in Dallas and should have another prime opportunity in 2023 as well.

What other backs will emerge this season, planting their flag as an elusive rusher?
