NFL Teams Are Reportedly Showing Interest In 1 Texans QB

The Houston Texans liked what they saw from Davis Mills in his rookie season, and even though he wasn’t on anybody’s radar, he had one of the most decent seasons by a rookie quarterback two years ago.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t keep that same pace in his sophomore season, vastly regressing and throwing 17 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.

The Texans didn’t hesitate to land a potential generational QB in C.J. Stroud with the No. 2 pick in this year’s NFL Draft, raising plenty of doubts about Mills’ future with the organization.

With that in mind, and considering they also signed veteran Case Keenum to mentor Stroud, rival teams have reached out to the Texans showing an interest in trading for Mills, according to KPRC 2 Houston, via Dov Kleiman.

The Texans, however, have shut down those talks by stating that Mills isn’t available right now, albeit it remains to be seen if they intend to keep three quarterbacks on their roster going forward.

Mills showed some mobility and arm strength in his first season with the Texans.

He’d definitely be an upgrade over several backups right now, and who knows, he might even turn out to be a competent starter if given enough time to develop and put into the right system.

Then again, it’s hard to envision that happening in Houston after how they shaped their roster.

Even if Stroud struggles early on — which doesn’t seem likely, but could happen — they’re not likely to turn back to him, barring a major and unfortunate injury.
