The NFL is always looking for ways to make the game safer for its players.
One way they are trying to protect the players is by changing the rules.
They have thought of as many rule changes as possible to keep the players on the field.
But one spot where players seem more likely to get injured is on kickoffs.
That is why the NFL is doing whatever it can to make kickoffs a non-factor.
The most recent rule change is that players can signal a fair catch anywhere inside the 25-yard line and get the ball at the 25 to start their possession.
NFL Legend Rob Gronkowski went on the Up & Adams show to talk about his disdain for this new rule.
Gronk thinks it is getting “a little bit ridiculous” regarding that specific rule change.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said the same thing about the rule changes.
He mentioned how if they make enough rule changes the game will turn into flag football.
As Gronk mentioned, most kickoffs end up being touchbacks anyway.
So this rule change is just another incentive for players not to return kicks.
All the NFL is trying to do is avoid players running full speed and colliding with each other on kickoffs.
This rule should help avoid that and hopefully decrease the injury rate around the league.
Any team with a dynamic kick returner can still return the kickoffs if they please.
Hopefully, this rule change will not lead to as many injuries on the kickoffs in 2023.
