Right now, Mikal Bridges of the Brooklyn Nets is one of the most talked-about young stars in the league.

But his career in the NBA didn’t get off to a great start.

Bridges sat down on the Point Forward podcast to discuss his painful NBA Draft experience.

“I was pissed off. I couldn’t control my emotions. After everyone went out, I’m in my hotel room like, ‘f–k this,’” Bridges said of the night he was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers and then immediately sent to the Phoenix Suns.

Bridges was the tenth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

It was a monumental night for the young player made even more special by the fact that he was selected by his hometown 76ers.

But within just minutes of Bridges’ name being called, Philadelphia decided they were going to trade him away to the Suns.

While Bridges was still grateful for his spot in the league, he was heartbroken that the team he had so much invested in didn’t want him.

The Philly native made the best of it though.

His time in Phoenix was very productive and he quickly became one of the most reliable young players on the team.

However, his star power has become even brighter over the last few months.

Since February, he has been playing in Brooklyn and is scoring a career-high 26.1 points, along with 4.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists a game on 47.5% from the field.

There are many people who believe that Bridges, or “Brooklyn Bridges” as he is now known, could be the face of the franchise for years to come.

His time in the league didn’t start off in the best way but he has clearly put that behind him.
