The San Francisco Giants have some exciting news to share with their fans.

They are extending their ace, Logan Webb, on a five-year, $90 million contract.

For a pitcher of Webb’s caliber, it’s an extremely team-friendly deal.

The new pact begins next year and will buy out three free-agent seasons.

The 26-year-old Webb will make an $8 million salary in 2024, and then will enjoy some nice increases: $12 million in 2025, $23 million in 2026-27, and $24 million in 2028.

Webb has a phenomenal 2.96 ERA over 340.2 innings between 2021-2022 with the Giants.

Considering his recent performance, age, and market value, this looks like a steal for the teams.

The best part of all, for Webb, is that not only does he gain some financial certainty, but he also has another chance to test the market when he is 31.

Fans, of course, reacted to the agreement.

The Giants are in the process of putting together a top rotation, and Webb is a crucial part of that mission.

Now that he has a place in the team’s long-term plans, fans can start to fantasize about the possibility of having him and a top prospect leading the staff for years.

Team-friendly or not, Webb is getting paid big-time and every time a top player receives what he is worth, we all celebrate.

Players are the foundation of the game, and Webb is among the finest at his craft.

Things haven’t been perfect in the early stages of the 2023 campaign, as he has a 4.76 ERA and a 0-3 record.

Still, we have every reason to believe he will be just fine moving forward.
