The 2023 NBA MVP race was one for the ages.
Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic went at it all season long, trying to beat each other.
After the league revealed the three finalists for every major NBA award, many fans are speculating about the winner.
For NBA legend Rick Barry, the league should change its approach to the coveted prize.

Having one MVP winner for each conference would be interesting, but it would take a lot from the competition.
All season long, we saw Embiid and Jokic going at it, and even Giannis Antetokounmpo showing that he was deserving of this honor too.
Separating the winners per conference would feel odd at the beginning, but it could add more competition.
Not every major sports league gives two MVP awards.
The MLB has two winners, one from the American League and one from the National League.
The NFL, NHL and MLS all have one single MVP for the season.
Perhaps the NBA joins the MLB and changes the way it gives out its MVP award.
We’ll have to sit and wait for what they decide to do, but this is definitely interesting from Barry.
Embiid is going strong this season, winning his second consecutive scoring title.
Jokic is once again having a season for the ages, but his defense could be the reason why he won’t win this award again.
This appears to be a wide-open race, and we won’t know who will get the honor until the league announces it.
