The Memphis Grizzlies were able to salvage their season after the Ja Morant gun incident.

They still finished with the second-best record in the Western Conference, going 10-8 overall without him.

Now, it seems like they might need to face their toughest challenge yet, and they’ll have to do it without their best player on the floor again.

Morant injured his hand late in Game 1 vs. the Los Angeles Lakers and couldn’t come back to the game.

He tried to dunk over Anthony Davis but was called for an offensive foul, to add insult to injury — literally.

Later, coach Taylor Jenkins ruled out a fracture by stating that the X-rays came out negative, but Morant’s status for Game 2 is still in jeopardy.

Jaren Jackson Jr. was at his finest throughout the game, and he made some huge plays on both ends of the floor without Morant, but they’ll need to be at their best to get past a red-hot team like the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers were the second-best team in the league since the All-Star break, and it seems like they’ve finally found their stride and got better when it mattered the most.

Moreover, they’ve stolen homecourt advantage already, so the pressure is now on the Grizzlies to get it back and prove that they’re ready to sit on the big boy’s table and compete at the highest level in the playoffs.

Hopefully, Morant won’t be out for too long, as the game is always better when the best are on the court.
