The last name “Manning” comes with an unmatched NFL pedigree.

So, all eyes were set on Arch Manning this Saturday as the highly-hyped young QB was set to make his unofficial debut for the Texas Longhorns in an Orange vs. White spring game.

The younger star in the Manning household, however, wasn’t exactly impressive.

He served as Maalik Murphy’s backup for the Orange team, going 5-of-13 for just 30 yards in the loss.

Manning was one of the most impressive high school players in the nation for the past couple of years, dominating at Isidore Neman in New Orleans and becoming the consensus No. 1 recruit in this year’s class.

Of course, some of that also had to do with the fact that he’s the nephew of Super Bowl-winning QBs Peyton and Eli Manning and the grandson of football legend Archie Manning, but the talent was also clearly there.

So, considering all the hype and expectations around him, it was only normal to see multiple spectators calling him out after such a questionable debut.

Even so, not everything was bad, as he did show some interesting mobility in the pocket, and we should never read too much into these games.

Arch is expected to become the next Manning to play in the National Football League at some point, and he’ll have plenty of time to learn, grow, and make adjustments.

So, beware of counting him out already.

He’s got the talent, the gene pool, and the elite mentorship to be the next big thing to enter the league one day.
