Just three-and-a-half months after collapsing on the field and suffering cardiac arrest during a game versus the Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has reportedly been cleared for all activity.

But for a while, it appeared his life was literally in danger.

After being involved in a collision during the contest, he was transported to a local hospital, and his prognosis was rather poor.

Hamlin playing in the NFL again was perhaps the last thing on the minds of fans and fellow players as they hoped for him to make a full recovery.

He says that he is grateful simply to be able to wake up each day and “live a peaceful life.”

The game in which he collapsed was suspended, and it caused yet another discussion about the NFL topic that won’t go away: player safety.

But unlike brain trauma, what happened to Hamlin was more likely a one-off incident that is extremely unlikely to occur again anytime soon, especially considering that NFL players are some of the strongest and best-conditioned athletes in the world.

The Bills went on to suffer a very disappointing 27-10 loss in the Divisional round of the playoff to the Bengals.

Hamlin said that he fully intends to continue playing in the NFL, and his doctors even told him doing so would be good for his mental health.

Buffalo is hoping that 2023 will be the year they finally win the Super Bowl, but even with a healthy Hamlin and the signings of defensive lineman Jordan Phillips and Shaq Lawson, simply finishing first in the AFC East will be difficult due to improved competition.
