The Indianapolis Colts will look significantly different in 2023 than they did in 2022.
For starters, the team will be led by Shane Steichen, their new head coach after the departure of Frank Reich.
The Colts are also slated to be led by a new quarterback, likely acquired in this year’s draft.
After a recent public discussion, Gus Bradley, the Colts’ defensive coordinator, revealed that the defense will look different as well.
Regarding Yannick Ngakoue, Bradley said “He was a tremendous player for us,” but ultimately decided that it was best for the two sides to part ways.
Widely assumed with the addition of Samson Ebukam, but Gus Bradley acknowledges today the Colts won’t retain DE Yannick Ngakoue, who’s still a free agent and had 9.5 sacks last season in Indy.

As Zak Kefefer highlights above, Ngakoue is still a free agent and will be able to bring his talents to another organization.
Last year, Ngakoue had 9.5 sacks, which is something that every team in the league could use, should he choose to go there.
After letting Ngakoue walk, the Colts have turned to Samson Ebukam, a 27-year-old defensive end with six years of league experience.
Ebukham joins DeForest Buckner on the Colts’ defensive line, a unit that struggled in 2022 as a whole.
With any luck, the Colts’ defensive struggles will be placed behind them, especially as the organization is slated to go ahead with a rookie quarterback.
Armed with eight total picks in the upcoming draft, the Colts’ team will be joined by several rookies, each looking to make their mark in the league.
Change can be a positive thing for an NFL team, and the Colts will have a lot of that in the incoming season.
