This year’s NBA Draft class is one of the most heavily scouted we’ve ever seen.

That’s mostly because French unicorn Victor Wembanyama is finally eligible to take his talents to the U.S.

Wembanyama has been a lock to be the No. 1 pick since before the start of the season, and analysts predicted there would be a tanking race for the ages just to get him.

While that wasn’t the case in the end, it feels like it would take something major to prevent him from going No. 1.

Even so, star PG prospect Scoot Henderson still likes his chances to be the first guy off the board.

Henderson showed his confidence by affirming that he’s going to be the No. 1 pick this season, which led to some mockery and criticism on social media.

Truth be told, Henderson would be the consensus best player in his class in most classes, but no GM will want to go down as the one guy who passed on Victor Wembanyama.

Henderson has developed his game with the G League Ignite; he’s got an NBA-ready frame and body and figures to be an elite scorer and playmaker at the next level.

But Wembanyama is the one and true unicorn.

He can swat shots into the stands, take the ball up the floor, and pull up from way beyond the arc to knock down a three-pointer.

Wembanyama’s combination of size and skill is literally unprecedented, and he doesn’t have a history of injuries.

So, as much as we love Henderson’s game, he’s most likely going second.
