The New York Mets have been playing some very good baseball as of late.

One of the many reasons they are playing so well at the moment is leadoff man and center fielder Brandon Nimmo.

The 30-year-old re-signed with the Mets this past offseason on an eight-year, $162 million contract.

Over the past seven games, Nimmo has been swinging a hot bat for the Mets.

He went 5-for-5 on Wednesday in the Mets’ 5-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers and is hitting for a .517 average over his last seven games.

He’s also scored six runs, driven in seven, picked up five extra-base hits, and has posted a 1.313 OPS.

MLB Network tweeted a list of some of Nimmo’s recent stats.

Nimmo’s 5-for-5 day on Wednesday included his first home run of the season, which came after Max Scherzer was ejected from the game due to a foreign substance on his hands.

The Mets ended up taking two out of three from the Dodgers.

But it was Nimmo who led the way for New York on Wednesday as the Mets secured a series win and improved their record to 12-7.

With the win, the Mets came to within two games of first place in the National League East, which is currently occupied by the five-time defending champion Atlanta Braves.

To start the season, Nimmo is hitting .349 with a home run and 22 hits over his first 63 at-bats.

He has also driven in 10 runs and has an on-base percentage of .481, a slugging percentage of .476, and an OPS of .958.
