New York Yankees starter Carlos Rodon has been out since March with a mild left elbow strain.

Anything that has to do with the elbow has to be treated with caution, because it’s the most important body part in the science of pitching, together with the shoulder.

Still, Rodon was ordered rest and then started throwing.

He did that for a few days, and even had a two-inning simulated game on Sunday.

However, he has been reporting back discomfort for a few days now, and despite the team saying it’s a minor issue, it hasn’t completely gone away.

The Yankees had him undergo tests on his back on Wednesday and they came back “normal”.

The team, however, seems disconcerted by the fact the back is now a more annoying issue than his elbow, and is sending the pitcher for another study.

“Carlos Rodon is having another CT scan and will not throw for a few days, Aaron Boone said. Boone said the Yankees still believe it is a minor issue,” Yankees insider Bryan Hoch tweeted.

Three of the original five members of the Yankees rotation are still on the injured list on different stages of their rehab processes: Rodon, Luis Severino, and Frankie Montas.

That has left the Yanks’ rotation decimated, and their depth has been tested in the early going.

Names like Domingo German, Clarke Schmidt and even Jhony Brito have been used a lot in the early stages of the 2023 campaign.

That will continue to be the case until Rodon or Severino are able to return.
