A Former Bears Kicker Is Reportedly Open To A Return

In March, Robbie Gould announced that he would not return to the San Francisco 49ers for the 2023 season.

Gould is an 18-year NFL veteran, and it appears that he is looking to move closer to home, according to a recent article on the NFL’s website.

This could signal a potential reunion with the Chicago Bears.

Having a reliable kicker in the NFL is essential, especially for teams with playoff aspirations.

The Bears’ current kicker is Cairo Santos, who made 91.3% of his field goals last season, but only 84.4% of his extra points.

Santos’ extra-point percentage could be a concern for the Bears, considering that it was the 37th-best mark across the league.

Gould, on the other hand, made 98% of his extra points last season.

Will the Bears take Gould back, given Santos’ kicking woes in 2022?

That certainly remains to be seen.

If the Bears do call, however, Gould said that he would “do it in a heartbeat.”

Gould also has Super Bowl aspirations in mind, considering that he does not have one yet.

He also has goals to get to 2,000 career points scored, and to make 500 field goals as well.

Gould is currently ninth on the all-time kickers list in terms of overall points scored, and eighth overall in terms of made field goals.

Will he return for a 19th season, either to the Bears or another team?

There are several months until the NFL season starts, so there is still some time for Gould to get a contract figured out.
