The Detroit Lions have some issues on their hands.

And none of them have to do with playing on the football field.

It appears that they have a gambling problem within their organization.

The Lions had four players suspended for violating the league’s gambling policy.

One of the players suspended was 2022 first-round pick Jameson Williams.

He missed most of last season recovering from an ACL injury and cannot play in the first six games of this upcoming season.

But player suspensions were not the only problem for the organization.

According to Ari Meirov, the Lions parted ways with several staff members last month due to gambling violations.

Now that sports betting is starting to become legal in more states, it is starting to cause more problems for NFL teams.

Players are allowed to bet on non-NFL games, they just can not do it from a team facility.

That is the issue Williams ran into.

He was betting on sports games inside the Lions facility, which is not allowed.

Last season, Calvin Ridley was suspended for the full season for gambling on NFL games.

The hope is that NFL teams will continue to make their players aware of where they can and cannot bet and what they can bet on.

Sports betting has become a major part of the fan experience, but players should do their best to refrain from wagering on games.
