Major Odds Shift On NFL No. 2 Overall Draft Pick Could Suggest A Surprise

The start of the 2023 NFL Draft is only a few days away, with the Carolina Panthers expected to be on the clock on Thursday, April 27, officially.

All signs point to the Panthers selecting quarterback Bryce Young out of the University of Alabama with the No. 1 overall pick, but now things have gotten a little interesting with Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud no longer the favorite to be taken at No. 2 by the Houston Texans.

The consensus for the last few weeks has been that Young is going first and Stroud is going second, with the rest of the top-tier quarterbacks being taken somewhere later in the first or second round.

The odds now favor the Texans taking Kentucky product Will Levis at No. 2, according to Jaime Eisner of The Draft Network via Caesars Sports.

This is an interesting development, to say the least, with many believing Levis would be the fourth quarterback taken in the first round behind Young, Stroud and Anthony Richardson out of the University of Florida.

If the Texans do indeed decide to go with Levis, it will definitely impact the decisions made by the teams to follow, as the Indianapolis Colts (No. 4), Seattle Seahawks (No. 5) and Las Vegas Raiders (No. 7) may all be considering taking a quarterback on Thursday.

It’ll be interesting to see if one of these quarterback-needy teams tries to trade up to get the No. 3 overall pick from the Arizona Cardinals.

With the Cardinals seemingly content with Kyler Murray under center for the foreseeable future, they won’t be going after a quarterback and potentially have the most desirable trade asset in the draft.
