The Houston Texans are in a privileged position, having the chance to choose at No. 2 in the upcoming NFL Draft.

And while there has been some speculation regarding them using that pick to revamp their defense, most around the NFL still believe they’ll go with a quarterback.

Should that be the case, then Dan Orlovsky believes Anthony Richardson would be a no-brainer pick for them.

Orlovsky claimed that Richardson could become a top-5 player at any position because of his talent, stating that he’s the best quarterback in this class.

The former QB dug deep into the tape to dismiss the narrative that Richardson isn’t an accurate passer, showing three absolute dimes that were dropped by his receiver in one game alone.

Orlovsky added that even though the numbers aren’t impressive, the tape simply doesn’t match that narrative, and there’s absolutely nothing that could make any scout believe that he’s not an accurate passer.

Sometimes, numbers need context, and this might as well be an example of that.

Richardson’s supporting cast at Florida wasn’t exactly impressive, so there could be some truth to what Orlovsky is saying.

The Texans desperately need a franchise QB, though, so they might not want to take a flier on a high-risk/high-reward kind of guy like Richardson and may play it safe by choosing C.J. Stroud instead.

But regardless of where he lands, there’s no doubt that Anthony Richardson’s potential will make him a must-watch player from the very second he sets foot on an NFL gridiron.
