Everyone had been waiting for weeks for future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers to get traded to the New York Jets, and on Monday it finally happened, almost seemingly out of nowhere.

Trade talks had been moving along very slowly, and there was no real indication that the Jets were nearing an agreement with the Green Bay Packers.

The reaction from ESPN NFL Live anchors to the breaking news on Monday had fans posting all sorts of reactions.

When asked to caption the moment, fans had a great sense of humor.

By heading to the Jets, Rodgers is following in the footsteps of his predecessor in Green Bay, Brett Favre, who was traded to New York in 2008 after coming out of retirement and taking offense to the fact that he would’ve had to beat out Rodgers for the QB1 spot.

This fan referenced Favre moving on from the Jets after just one year to the Packers’ longtime NFC North rivals, the Minnesota Vikings.

This fan feels the Jets got the short end of the stick in the Rodgers deal.

The Jets are giving up four draft picks, including their No. 13 pick in this year’s draft, to the Packers for the 39-year-old Rodgers.

However, New York will also be getting the No. 15 pick this year along with Rodgers.

They have a strong team all-around, especially on defense, but the big question will be whether Rodgers can cheat Father Time for one or two more years.

His production dipped in 2022, and it is an open question whether it was due to age or simply the departure of star wide receiver Davante Adams.
