Aaron Rodgers is the talk of the NFL, and more specifically, the Tri-state area, as he was traded from the Green Bay Packers to the New York Jets on Monday.

The Jets are receiving a big-name quarterback for the first time in over a decade since another legendary Packer signal-caller by the name of Brett Favre was sent there.

For the Packers, it marks the second big-name star they have traded in the last calendar year or so after they dealt All-Pro first-team wide receiver Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022.

When Brian Gutekunst, their general manager, was asked if getting rid of both Adams and Rodgers was risky, this was his response:

“There’s risk in the National Football League,” Gutekunst said. “I mean, we were 8-9 last year, so we’re trying to get better. You know what I mean? I think that’s important.”

Rodgers led Green Bay to a Super Bowl championship in the 2010 season, but the team’s postseason record ever since has been disappointing, as it has included four losses in the NFC Championship Game.

Last season, without Adams, they sagged to an 8-9 finish as their offense became anemic and Rodgers’ production dropped significantly.

It will now be Jordan Love’s team, as the 24-year-old quarterback will get his chance to prove he is capable of being a worthy face of the Packers moving forward.

They have also received New York’s No. 13 pick in this year’s draft, which could become a quality starter.

It is a brave new world for Green Bay, as they will not have a big name under center for the first time since 1991.
