Her whole world! Maci Bookout is the proud mom of Bentley, Jayde and Maverick — and she’s documented all of her little ones’ biggest accomplishments over the years.
The Teen Mom star became a parent for the first time while she was a junior in high school. Bookout gave birth to son Bentley, whom she shares with ex Ryan Edwards, in October 2008. Though the MTV personalities were briefly engaged in 2009, they soon split for good. While they attempt to coparent their son, Bookout and Edwards have faced their fair share of ups and downs through the years, as her ex battles substance abuse issues and legal woes.
In 2012, Bookout began dating Taylor McKinney, whom she eventually wed four years later. The 16 and Pregnant alum welcomed their daughter Jayde in May 2015 and expanded their family further with son Maverick one year later. Bookout and McKinney walked down the aisle in October 2016, five months after welcoming their newborn.
While Bookout and McKinney’s relationship only became stronger as the years went on, her coparenting with Edwards grew more and more tense.
The Bulletproof author was granted a restraining order against her ex to protect herself, her husband and their two children after he allegedly threatened them. Bentley was not included in the May 2018 protection order so he could still remain in contact with his father. At the time, Bookout was hopeful that her eldest son and his dad could develop a healthier relationship down the line.
“Bentley has gotten older and is kind of understanding a little bit more about what’s going on. I don’t want to say they’ve gotten closer, but I think that it’s gotten healthier only because I think it relieves some of the pressure from each of them,” Bookout exclusively told Us Weekly in September 2018. “Bentley was a child, like, wondering what’s really going on. I think if the right steps are taken from here, then it will end up good.”
Four years later, Bookout gave Us an update on where Bentley and his father stood noting that they “don’t have a relationship at all.”
As Edwards continued to struggle with his legal woes, Bookout remained strong for her little one supporting him as he reached major milestones, including graduating from elementary school, becoming a teenager and his active involvement in school sports.
In 2023, Bentley’s father faced even more challenges as he struggled with substance abuse, got arrested several more times and was in the midst of a divorce from his wife Mackenzie Edwards. Following the news of his arrest in April 2023, Bookout shared a selfie with Bentley with a caption that included lyrics from Pink‘s song “That’s All I Know So Far,” which the musician penned for her daughter, Willow.
“I wish someone would have told me that this darkness comes and goes,” the MTV personality captioned the snap. “People will pretend but my boy, nobody knows / And even I can’t teach you how to fly / But I can show you how to live like your life is on the line” 🎶.”
