Just prior to Tuesday’s draft lottery, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver sat down with ESPN, and the first issue raised was an unpleasant one: Ja Morant’s latest gun-related incident.

Just a few months after he gleefully toted a gun on an Instagram Live while at a nightclub in Colorado, Morant again flashed a gun in a widely seen video just days ago.

After the first video was released, Morant was suspended by both the Memphis Grizzlies and the league, and after this latest incident, the Grizzlies suspended him from team-related activities.

It is widely expected that he will also face a hefty suspension from the NBA, and Silver expressed shock at his latest incident, especially since the two had a lengthy discussion after the first incident.

Silver said he was concerned about Morant’s safety, as well as the fact that he may be influencing millions of fans, especially kids, to own guns not for any practical reason but for mere vanity.

The commissioner also added that the league is currently investigating the matter and what its response will be.

Morant is one of the NBA’s best young stars and possibly the most athletically gifted point guard in league history, but he is doing damage to his image with these gun-related incidents.

In a day and age when America has been deluged with one mass shooting after another, he is at risk of losing his endorsements, not to mention hurting his team, which is one of the better squads in the league.
