Superstar running back Adrian Peterson missed the entire 2022 NFL season, with no team willing to sign him and extend his career in the league.

Despite being arguably a first-ballot Hall of Famer and, without a doubt, one of the best running backs in the league’s history, Peterson isn’t the same player he once was and might have to accept that his playing days might be over.

However, it doesn’t seem as though he’s ready to call it a career just yet, as he claims that mentally he isn’t ready to retire, as he told Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Superstar players in any professional sport always find it incredibly difficult to walk away from the game that made them a household name, and Peterson is no different.

Peterson spent his prime with the Minnesota Vikings, where he was arguably the best running back in the league for quite some time.

However, once the Vikings decided to move on, Peterson failed to find the same kind of success elsewhere in the league, as he hopped around quite a bit.

Since leaving Minnesota, Peterson has played for the Arizona Cardinals, New Orleans Saints, Washington Commanders, Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans, and Seattle Seahawks.

That’s a lot of teams for a future Hall of Famer in the twilight of his career, which means it’s unlikely he’s getting a call from another team in the NFL any time soon.

Despite the future looking bleak in terms of continuing his playing career, there’s always a chance he gets a call when injuries start to pile up around the league.
