The New York Yankees have gotten off to a decent start to the year.

But playing in the most competitive division in baseball has them sitting in fourth place.

With a record of 24-19, the Yankees are still 7.5 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays for first place in the AL East.

One player that has been awesome this season for the Yankees is first baseman Anthony Rizzo.

He has found a home in New York and is producing at a high level.

According to the Yankees on Twitter, Rizzo was named the AL Player of the Week from May 8 to May 14.

During that stretch, Rizzo hit .444 with three home runs and seven RBI.

He also added 10 runs scored in that timeframe.

In the seven games played last week, Rizzo had multiple hits in five of them.

The 33-year-old is hitting .308 this year with nine home runs, 23 RBI, and an OPS of .912.

He helped keep the Yankees afloat while Aaron Judge was on the injured list.

Rizzo is in the twilight of his career, yet he remains one of the most productive first basemen in baseball.

The Yankees came into this season with hopes of repeating as AL East champions.

But they have plenty of work to do to chase down the Rays.

Also, the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays have better records than the Yankees.

Not all of these teams can make the playoffs, so this division race will be fun to watch all season.
