Oli Marmol, the manager of the St. Louis Cardinals, is a unique skipper in that he typically does not wear his full uniform while managing.
More often than not, Marmol does not wear the jersey, but instead wears a hooded pullover.
Famous St. Louis writer Rick Hummel, who covered the Cardinals for 51 years before his eventual retirement, often let Marmol hear it for not wearing his full uniform.
Hummel sadly passed away over the weekend at the age of 77.
And so, to honor his late friend, Marmol did something that he hadn’t yet done in his managerial career and wore his full uniform for Monday night’s series opener against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ballpark.

On Monday, the young Cardinals manager decided that it would be the perfect time to honor his late friend, and did so in a very touching way.
Hummel covered many great Cardinals teams over the years and was on hand for their World Series championship teams in 1982, 2006, and 2011.
The Hall-of-Fame writer was a staple in the St. Louis community and was well respected by fans, players, coaches, and fellow media members alike.
Marmol is no different in that regard, and made it clear with his gesture on Monday night that the Hall-of-Fame writer meant a lot to him.
The Cardinals fell short in their series opener with the Reds on Monday, losing 6-5 in walk-off fashion.
But that didn’t stop Marmol from paying his respects to his late friend.
