After 19 years, 10 All-Star appearances, and a spot on the 75th Anniversary Team, Carmelo Anthony is stepping away from the NBA.
The iconic forward posted a video on social media Monday morning announcing his retirement from the league.
In the video, he celebrated all that he had done on the court and also talked about his legacy, passing it on to his son, Kiyan.

Anthony will leave the league as the ninth-best scorer in NBA history.
That is just one of the many things he has accomplished during his time playing professional basketball.
He has been a vital part of multiple teams.
He started with the Denver Nuggets during the 2003-04 season, just like his close friend LeBron James.
From there, he traveled to the New York Knicks, where he is still treated like royalty, then the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, and finally the Los Angeles Lakers.
Anthony wasn’t re-signed by the Lakers after his one year on the team and has been without a place in the league since.
There were many wondering if he’d return to the Knicks for one last run, play overseas, or simply hang up his jersey.
It seems like he is going with the last option.
Although Anthony was never able to win a championship ring, he has become a poster child for the sort of strong personality and mental mindset that can make someone an NBA legend.
He is now 38 years old, which means we may see much more of him in the future.
Perhaps he will be a commentator or coach in the years ahead.
His days of playing in the NBA are over but many are speculating that we haven’t seen the last of Anthony.
