Despite being the underdog heading into their first-round playoff series with the Memphis Grizzlies, the Los Angeles Lakers are sporting a 3-1 lead and are on the verge of advancing to the next round if they can win Game 5 on the road.

Although the Lakers have exceeded expectations in this series up to this point, superstar forward Anthony Davis continues to be inconsistent from game to game leading to concern about the rest of the series and the rest of the playoffs if they advance.

When healthy and locked in, few players in the NBA can do what Davis can on the basketball floor, as he can be equally dominant on both ends of the floor.

In Game 4, Davis was dominant defensively but was a liability offensively, hitting on four of the 13 shots he took.

That inconsistency is why Chris Broussard of Fox Sports believes the 30-year-old needs to look in a mirror and try to get back on track to help his team moving forward.

There’s no questioning Davis’ talent as he remains one of the best players in the NBA today at his position, but the inconsistency and constant injury issues keep him from being in the conversation for the league’s best all-around player.

Fortunately, the Lakers don’t need Davis to play at an MVP caliber to win this series, but the competition will get tougher from here on out, and at one point, Los Angeles will look at the one-time champion to come through with a game and or a playoff series on the line.
