The Chicago Cubs have enjoyed an incredible stretch of games by versatile 23-year-old prospect Christopher Morel.

He has nine home runs in his first 12 games with the Cubs this year and has gone yard in his last five games.

If we add up the 11 long balls he hit in Triple-A, the guy has homered 20 times so far in 2023.

We haven’t even finished May!

That’s incredibly impressive.

He has become a savior, a hero in Chicago.

However, he hasn’t let the fame go to his head in a bad way.

He knows where he comes from, and he understands that whatever success he earns on the field shouldn’t affect who he is as a person.

“Christopher Morel, pregame today on the attention he’s getting: ‘For me, I’m not famous. I’m not trying to be famous. I’m trying to be a good person and teammate,’” Cubs insider Jesse Rogers tweeted.

He seems to have a good head to handle fame and everything that comes with it.

Of course, that is a necessary trait for any major leaguer, let alone a talented one like himself.

He plays in a big market, a huge city, and a team with a loyal, sometimes intense fan base.

He seems to understand that he isn’t the best right now, and also isn’t the worst when he slumps and his numbers fall back to earth a bit.

That will inevitably happen because nobody hits one homer per game over a full season.

Morel is well-equipped to deal with success and failure, and those tools will serve him well in his career.
