The Los Angeles Dodgers managed to pull away with a 5-0 victory over the New York Mets on Tuesday night, evening their three-game series at one win apiece.

Starting for the Dodgers was veteran left-hander Clayton Kershaw, who was won an MVP Award and three Cy Youngs.

The three-time Cy Young pitched admirably against a powerful Mets lineup, as he allowed just three hits over seven shutout innings.

He also struck out nine batters and didn’t walk any.

In fact, with his dominant performance, he picked up his 200th win.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today took note of Kershaw’s historic win on Twitter.

Kershaw reached the Major Leagues back in 2008 and has been one of the Dodgers’ most dependable starters ever since.

He was able to overcome his long history of postseason woes and help the Dodgers reach the World Series three times in a four-year span, winning in 2020 over the Tampa Bay Rays.

But on Tuesday, he was at his best against a stacked Mets lineup and managed to carve his way through the vaunted Mets attack.

And in doing so, he picked up a historic win and further strengthened his case to be a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer.

With the win, Kershaw lowered his ERA to 2.52 on the season.

For his career, he owns a 2.48 mark over 2,606 innings of work with 2,833 strikeouts and a 1.00 WHIP.

The Dodgers won their ninth game of the season and remained two games back of the red-hot Arizona Diamondbacks, who currently lead the National League West division.
