For the vast majority of the American population, putting on weight is something that is avoided at all costs.

NFL athletes are a different breed, however, and can sometimes target weight gain to get stronger, and better at their job as a result.

This appears to be the case for Miami Dolphins receiver Jaylen Waddle, who has recently indicated that he made a concerted effort to gain weight in the offseason.

According to Cameron Wolfe’s report, Waddle said: “When I run somebody over this season, you’ll see.”

Generally, receivers like to be a lighter weight, giving them the best possible chance to run quickly.

In the case of Waddle, it appears that he’d like to run over defenders, to have more yards after the catch.

Waddle’s sophomore campaign consisted of 75 receptions, 1,356 yards, and eight touchdowns.

He was able to find massive success, despite not having Tua Tagovailoa for several games during the season.

This season, the Dolphins will look to not only make the playoffs again but make a deep run in the process.

Tagovailoa was unable to start in their lone playoff game in 2022, resulting in an early exit.

If his chemistry remains strong with Waddle, there’s no telling what this team can do.

Plus, Waddle also has Tyreek Hill as a teammate, which can take a lot of pressure off him on offense.

If Waddle had an “up-and-down” season in 2022, as he described, fans are eagerly awaiting what a full, consistent, and productive season looks like for him.
