Derek Carr was signed by the New Orleans Saints at the beginning of the NFL offseason.

This was after a nine-year tenure with the Las Vegas Raiders, marking a new era in Carr’s career.

The Saints have struggled at the quarterback position since Drew Brees retired, and Carr looks to make an impact with this organization.

Brees has recently commented on Carr’s arrival, saying “They’re going to be well-positioned to make a run at it.”

In this article, Patra comments on the current state of the Saints, claiming that they, on paper, “boast the top team in the division.”

Pending litigation, the Saints have Alvin Kamara in their backfield, who has proven to be one of the best running backs in the league.

Carr will also have Michael Thomas and Chris Olave at his disposal, pairing a veteran receiver with an up-and-comer.

Thomas has suffered several injuries over the past three years, but he appears to be on the mend.

If Carr can make a connection with his new weapons, as both Patra and Brees suggest, the Saints could be in for a playoff appearance, and maybe more.

“We’ve seen what a difference one position makes to a team,” said Brees.

Tom Brady was able to come into the NFC South and dominate in his first season, winning the Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

As the Buccaneers and the rest of the division are on their toes, Carr and the Saints could perform quite well in 2023.
