The Pittsburgh Pirates have been an interesting team to watch early this season.

They are 17-8 and are tied with the Atlanta Braves for the best record in the National League.

But at the center of everything on Wednesday night was former prospect Drew Maggi, who had spent 13 years in the minor leagues before finally making his MLB debut.

Maggi pinch hit for designated hitter Andrew McCutchen to take his first MLB at-bat.

The Pirates rolled to an 8-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

After the game, Maggi was all smiles as he talked about his unforgettable night and what it meant to him to finally play in a Major League game.

Maggi was almost speechless as he talked about his night.

He said that he felt the full support of the fanbase while he was in the batter’s box.

He also said that he didn’t expect such a nice warm reaction.

Maggi knew that his first MLB at-bat would be a very special one, but that he didn’t expect it to be quite as special as it was.

The 33-year-old credited the Pirates fanbase for cheering him on as he took his first hacks at the big-league level and was overcome joy as he talked about the moment.

Maggi was drafted by the Pirates in the 15th round in 2010.

The 33-year-old was down in the minors for a full 13 years before finally getting the call.

Finally in 2023, Maggi got to experience a moment he had been dreaming of for his entire life.
