After the first round of the NBA playoffs continues to press on with some intriguing matchups in both conferences, the league has been handing out some regular-season awards.
Following Jaren Jackson Jr. of the Memphis Grizzlies winning NBA Defensive Player of the Year and Sacramento Kings star De’Aaron Fox winning the first-ever NBA Clutch Player of the Year, the league announced the winner of the NBA Sixth Man of the Year on Thursday.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Malcolm Brogdon of the Boston Celtics has been named this year’s best sixth man.

As per usual, even if a player had the regular-season award wrapped up for months and was clearly the best player in the category, fans of other teams with candidates will express their discontent on Twitter.
Despite the lobbying for Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis and Immanuel Quickley of the New York Knicks, it’s hard to make a stronger case for anyone other than Brogdon.
The Celtics made a brilliant move in the NBA offseason last summer to bring in the veteran guard, and the new partnership has worked out beautifully as he’s been the ideal player for the storied franchise off the bench.
Although Brogdon played a more significant role with the Indiana Pacers the last three years, he may have found his calling in Boston as a sixth man playing for a legitimate title contender.
Brogdon averaged 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game while shooting an impressive 48.4% from the floor and 44.4% from beyond the arc in 26 minutes off the bench for the Celtics during the regular season.
